Fighting Styles

A Fighting Style is a collection of maneuvers and techniques that Fighters may learn as part of their class training.

Bare-handed fighting style

You gain Training in Unarmed or Grappling combat. Your bare fists and feet count as off-hand melee weapons, granting your unarmed attacks all the bonuses and capabilities that apply to weapon attacks. You may make an unarmed attack whenever you could make a melee attack with an off-hand weapon. You gain the Class maneuver Stunning blow .

Light blade fighting style

You gain Training in blades. When you inflict ongoing damage with a blade weapon that you have Expertise with, increase the ongoing damage by half your Level, and your target suffers Disadvantage to all saving throws until they shrug off the ongoing damage. You gain the Class maneuver Blade crescendo .

Shield fighting style

You gain Training with shields. When you are wearing a shield, you double your shield's cover bonus to defense against opportunity attacks and ranged attacks. You gain the Class maneuver No opening .

Polearm fighting style

You gain Training in the polearm weapon group. If you are wielding a polearm that you have Expertise with, you may use your polearm Proficiency to determine your Armor defense. You gain the Class maneuver Full extension .

Two-weapon fighting style

You may wield any one-handed or versatile weapon that you have Training in as your secondary weapon. When wielding a weapon in each hand, you may use your secondary weapon's Proficiency to determine your Armor defense vs. melee attacks. You gain the Class maneuver Tornado strike .

Heavy blade fighting style

You gain Training in the sword or axe weapon group. When you wield a sword or axe weapon with both hands that you have Expertise with, increase your melee damage bonus by half your level. You gain the Class maneuver Cleaving strike .

Archery fighting style

You may gain Training in the bow or crossbow weapon group. When you attack with a bow or crossbow weapon that you have Expertise with, increase the weapon's range by your level. You gain the Class maneuver Piercing shot .

Thrown weapon fighting style

You gain Training in the thrown weapon group. When you attack with a thrown weapon that you have Expertise with, increase the weapon's range by your Strength modifier. You gain the Class maneuver Flurry of darts .

Blunt Weapon Fighting Style

You may gain Training in the bludgeon or hammer weapon group. When you hit with a bludgeon or hammer that you have Expertise with, your target suffers Disadvantage on saving throws until the end of your next turn. You gain the Class maneuver Bell ringer .

Spear fighting style

You gain Training in the spear weapon group. When you charge with a spear weapon that you have Expertise with, add half your level to your melee damage bonus, and add your Constitution modifier to any ongoing damage dealt. You gain the Class maneuver Skewering charge .

Flail fighting style

You gain Training in the Flail weapon group. Targets that you have grabbed with a flail weapon that you have Expertise with suffer Disadvantage on their break free or escape checks. You gain the Class maneuver Ensnaring strike .
